Searching for a convenient pressure washer can be a tough job, and the Sun Joe SPX1000 ensures it doesn’t have to be a dirty one! We’ve blown out leaf-filled gutters for grandma, hosed off the house and drenched our driveway with a few different pressure washers searching for a good fit. For its convenience, weight, and capabilities we were happy to choose the SPX1000 pressure washer from Sun Joe.
“Float Like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee”
In your corner, weighing less than 12 lbs, this unit will have you feeling like the boxing champ of clean with a powerful spray for its lightweight class. Grandma can not only lift it, but she can also pull it thanks to the 6-inch wheels allowing it to move like it’s floating on air. Considering this machine is only 12 inches high and 19 inches wide, in comparison that’s like your car having 8-foot tires for extra rolling capacity!
What about the stingIt has a flow rate of 1.45 gallons per minute to blast out the grim with an adjustable twist nozzle to control the spray. Being able to change the direction of your nozzle flow allows you to adjust for gaps, cracks, angles and differently textured surfaces that need a good cleaning.
For instance, when spraying wood, having a slightly wider fan spray and going along the grain will help wash out any dirt, mildew and light stains. Having a small blast and going against the grain may accidentally gouge the wood with high-pressure models!
On the other hand, for concrete cracks, hard to reach spots and tough stains the concentrated blast is exactly what you want! This spray nozzle lets you choose your plan of gunk attack going from an intense hard hitting zero degrees spray to a nice 45-degree fan.

Maneuverability
If you’re in the market for a pressure washer, we’re going to assume you may have some hard to reach spots to spray. Gutters, siding and all those awkward outdoor spaces you need a ladder, a longer arm or are nowhere near a plug for. Luckily, you’re covered with a 33-inch spray arm on the end of a 20-foot high-pressure hose. Just to get you further out into the yard it also comes equipped with a 35-foot power cord with GFCI protection for safety.
It’s a Dirty Job, but…
You’re probably the one stuck doing it! This pressure washer is here to help. Being electric inherently means that there is less power than a commercial gas pressure washer, but that can actually be a great thing. Your boat, RV, truck, car or motorcycle paint job will thank you – and so will your house siding, decks, and barbecues.
Wooden decks love a good cleaning but require you use lower pressure than concrete or stone can handle from a commercial gas pressure washer. Decorative or thinly coated concrete like our paving stones and sidewalk crack repair require a pressure that is less intense than a commercial sprayer as well. An electric pressure washer is definitely the choice for our yards.
Another slew of advantages to being an electric pressure washer is that there is no danger of stalling out when starting, or not starting due to a gas issue – or worse, a pump being damaged from idling too long. Electric pressure washers startup as you apply pressure to the trigger to spray, and shut down the high intensity as soon as you let off rather than constantly running on high.
No gas also means no fumes which mean, for enclosed spaces such as garden sheds or garages, you can bring it inside without the toxic exhaust concern.
Safety
Pressure washer safety is an important topic. Always wear eye protection and never spray on your skin or someone else’s. A great safety feature for this particular model is the “Total Stop System,” which is a safety control lock to keep the trigger from accidentally engaging while the machine is plugged in and turned on.
