DEWALT DCS7485T1 FLEXVOLT 60V MAX Table Saw Kit Review
One of the cornerstones of an efficient worksite or job site is a safe, reliable table saw. DeWalt closes the gap at the cordless job site by introducing cordless tools, including this table saw. The DeWalt DCS7485T1 Table Saw Kit is a unit designed to offer you power, performance, and versatility in a single unit. This cordless table saw has the same features as its corded sibling, meaning if you have used the older unit, there’s no learning curve. What does the saw bring to your workspace?
A FlexVolt Battery Powered Table
FlexVolt is a revolutionary charging system with new tools capable of operating at 60 to 120 volts battery power. These accessories offer users the added advantage of better efficiency for increased power. An essential ingredient in this mix is the FlexVolt battery that’s capable of cranking out 60 volts.
Fortunately, DeWalt engineers made the cells backward compatible, meaning that you can put in the battery into a 20V MAX tool.
The battery’s electronics detect your tool type and adjust themselves to release 20 volts – plus a whole lot more runtime.
For many major tool manufacturers, the mantra has been to cut the cord. And while table saws are typically reserved for bigger cutting jobs like ripping ling trim pieces, dimension lumber or cutting sheets, you would expect the unit to have a strong motor.
In turn, the beefy motor runs on lots of juice to get it spinning. While that is an ambitious project, DeWalt built a powerful brushless motor that works with the new FlexVolt battery and efficient blades. What you get is a portable table saw that you could use in various job sites.
DeWalt says that you can go through 302 feet of OSB plywood on a single charge. For two days on a single battery, you can cut cedar trim, PCV, plywood and 2×4 KD lumber.
This DeWalt cordless 8-1/4-inch table saw is as durable as all the company’s table saws due to use of the same saw. The metal roll cage is used for protecting the saw, and it also provides you with a pivot hand for carrying convenience. An onboard storage guard, wrenches, fence and miter gauge, are all securely placed. Plus, the table is coated with a special coating for reducing surface friction while cutting. A great addition is the unseen dust collection unit. I
t’s a heavy duty black canvas that’s mounted on the table’s underside, just under the motor. The canvas is designed to follow the motor when beveled, lowered or raised. A shroud is used for capturing and directing the dust towards the dust chute.
DEWALT DCS7485T1: Conclusion
The DeWalt DCS7485T1 Table Saw Kit will impress you and the attention to detail the manufacturer has put in it. This is an excellent example of how hard working the innovative folks at DeWalt can be when it comes to designing visionary tools. It’s also a testament to their commitment to the cordless job site. This is a table saw that has some nice features, and yet powerful for a portable unit that does not run on electric power.
